No matter how much I love my pets, I can’t be home with them all the time. Obviously, I need to leave my home to do chores and visit some friends. And I’m sure you’re the same.
But how great would it be to have at least some idea of what’s going on with our pets while we’re away? I imagine Luna spends the days snoozing in her favourite chair as well as chewing on her plushy squirrel friend.
Remember, it’s important not to leave any pet home alone too long. But for the times you’re out, it might be worth your money to keep tabs on your pet. Check out these fun techy gadgets for pet parents that have form and function.
1) See what your dog’s up to
Indoor cameras are amazing for checking up on your pet. And you might catch absolutely adorableness mid-way through your work day. Blink Home Security has some of my favorite cameras because they’re easy to use, have great video quality, and some have a pawsome 2-way feature so you can talk to your pet while you’re out!
2) Furbo is another great camera option - with some sweet twists
Think of all the cool benefits of having a dog camera plus treat-tossing! The Furbo is great for positive reinforcement training when you’re out of the house. If you’re dealing with dog challenges like excessive barking or destroyed pillows from chewing, you’ll probably benefit from the Furbo Dog Nanny, too. It will alert you to the behaviour.
While it’s designed for dogs, Furbo’s basic features work for cat parents who want to check in on their feline friend, too.
3) Manage your pet's feedings
Pet nutrition is critical for life quality and overall health. My dog Luna loves to steal our cat’s biscuits when we have to put them out early in the morning before Banjo wakes up.
The PetKit automatic feeder has helped so much as you can set up specific times for the food to be released meaning Banjo can get his biscuits once he’s woken up.
4) Fetch just got a serious upgrade
Fetch is one of Luna’s favourite games. But let’s face it – a game of fetch tires me out faster than it does my dog. And it probably does you, too.
The iFetch mini ball launcher is a lifesaver. It’s perfect for small and medium dogs who love that endless game of fetch. The launcher can be set to throw 10, 20 and 30 feet, and is designed so that your dog can be trained to reload the balls without your help. Definitely a must-have for fetch-loving dogs!
5) Never lose your pet again
Luna escaped our garden once and made it out onto the main road near our home. It was absolutely terrifying, and I wish I’d had some tech like Tractive to help me catch her faster. Not only can you follow your pet with the live tracking feature, but there’s also a setting to allow you to mark out a safe zone for your pet. This sends you notifications to your phone when your pet leaves the safe zone allowing you to know where they are.
These techy gadgets are ways to enhance your pet’s life, especially while you’re out. But they’ll never replace human contact, of course. Consider hiring a dog walker or pet sitter to be with your pet if they’re going to be alone for long periods of time.
