About Me

Hi, I’m Sam and I’m here to help first-time pet owners reduce their pet care overwhelm.

There are so many things involved in pet care and I’m passionate about breaking these down into manageable chunks to help you give your pet the best life possible.

I’ve had pets since 2001 and there have definitely been challenges and learning curves along the way.

Pets are unpredictable sometimes!

It’s been great fun and I’ve made some strong bonds with them that I’ll hold onto forever.

However, I have also been overwhelmed by things over the years.

I think the most confusing thing I had to learn about was choosing dog food when bringing home my first dog. Luna needed a different food and I remember standing in the pet shop looking down the aisle wondering where to even begin looking. There were just so many choices and so much information.

I’m hoping I’ll be able to ease some of your overwhelm. There can be a lot to learn, but it doesn’t need to be complicated. Bringing home your first pet doesn’t need to be hard.

In 2023, I graduated from the Victoria Stillwell Academy for Dog Training & Behaviour as an online student and have been granted official status as a VSA-Certified Dog Trainer Online (VSA-CDT-Online).

The Victoria Stilwell Academy is the world’s premier institution for professional dog trainer education founded by renowned dog behaviour expert Victoria Stilwell.

All VSA graduates have been rigorously assessed at the highest level for both skills and knowledge in the areas of dog training, behaviour modification, canine ethology, creative problem-solving and more.   Learn more about the Victoria Stilwell Academy here.

Why Did I Start A Pet Care Blog?

In 2017, I started volunteering at a local rescue centre and it used to break my heart seeing all the pets being surrendered.

I mainly helped with the guinea pigs, socialising them and getting them used to humans so they’d be happy in their new homes. It was an amazing feeling when they got to go home with their furever families!

I started this blog a few years later as I wanted to help reduce the overwhelm associated with pet care. There are just so many questions and things that are vital to giving your pet the best life and I know that’s what you want your furry friend to have!

Currently, the blog covers pet care questions relating to cats, dogs and guinea pigs. I hope to add more categories in the future so let me know what you’d love to see!

You can find me on Pinterest or get in touch via email.

Below you’ll find all the pets I’ve had over the years. But before you take a look at their cute little faces, don’t forget to head over to find more information on pet care in the blog.

We’ve got posts on:

Fun Facts About Some Of My Pets

ginger, white and black guinea pig

This is Dot; so named as she has a ginger dot on her head. She is the bravest of my guinea pigs. She will always be the first queueing up for food. Dot is also the noisiest of my piggies.

This is Dash; so named as she has a ginger dash down her side. She is the most nervous of my pigs but the happiest to be held.

Update: Dash passed away July 2020 – Read her story here
